It’s one thing to look polished and groomed for a red-carpet appearance. But standing out among the ultrasoigné, très elegant guests at Delphine Arnault‘s lavish nuptials in France takes seriously chic chops, especially when one must be careful not to upstage the bride. Model Laura Ponte, who is married to King Juan Carlos of Spain‘s nephew, Beltrán Gómez-Acebo, was more than up to the task in a gray stone, stretch flannel dress from the Yves Saint Laurent fall collection, cinched with YSL designer Stefano Pilati‘s wide, black suede belt. In fact, with the addition of ladylike black-and-white stilettos, three-quarter-length black gloves topped with a vintage gold cuff and, the coup de grâce, a glittering black spherical hat ornamented with a single feather, Ponte was a vision of an otherworldly refinement, the likes of which will probably never see the flashbulbs of a Los Angeles movie premiere.
