In his fall 2005 collection, Alexander McQueen opened with an homage to the iconic Hitchcock blonde, complete with Tippi Hedren-worthy hair and wasp-waist pencil skirts. But it was a sizzling, raven-maned Jennifer Connelly who stepped out in one of his va-voom dresses at the “Cinderella Man” premiere in New York last Wednesday night. Wearing a sleek, knee-length sheath with a deep V front, Connelly forewent the classic Hitchcock gloves and pumps in favor of a more modern mélange: a Bottega Veneta bangle and clutch and Roger Vivier high-heel sandals. “As the quintessential natural beauty, her look is all about her and not some Hollywood ideal,” says McQueen of his leading lady. “To me, that speaks volumes, which is why I love to dress her.” Who says gentlemen prefer blondes?
