There was a lot of love going around Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon as MaxMara, Jane Fleming, president of Women in Film (WIF), and Krista Smith, West Coast editor of Vanity Fair, co-hosted a luncheon for actress Ginnifer Goodwin at West Hollywood’s Sunset Tower Hotel.
Best known for her roles in HBO’s “Big Love,” “Mona Lisa Smile” and “Walk the Line,” Goodwin will receive WIF’s MaxMara Face of the Future Award next month. Previous recipients include Maria Bello and Emily Blunt.
Rose McGowan, Lauren Graham, “Big Love” co-star Jeanne Tripplehorn and “The Women” director Diane English joined Hollywood and fashion insiders at the third annual event.
“I was so nervous when I gave my speech at lunch, I was shaking,” Goodwin said. “Everyone thinks that as an actor you just have it down, but it’s easy to say someone else’s words. Something that comes from the heart is much harder.”
Not surprisingly, many of the attendees wore Max Mara, including Goodwin and McGowan, who was wearing an orthopedic boot due to a recently broken toe. The actress sported one pink Manolo Blahnik and was determined the injury wouldn’t impede her choice of footwear.
“My doctor said I’m only allowed to wear heels that match the height of the medical boot. I think I’m going to put a platform on the bottom of it before I go to Cannes and Vienna so that I can wear one Louboutin with it,” she laughed.
