Only in Los Angeles do people throw parties to remind themselves it’s summer. V magazine recently hosted one such soiree at Hollywood’s M bar, where punked-out attire took inspiration from a performance by the Icarus Line. Standout trends included studs, safety pins, spiked heels and leather, which Taryn Manning demonstrated by donning a Miss Sixty bomber.

But the biggest punk of the evening turned out to be the surly doorman, who first refused to admit Manning and her entourage to the party.

“Don’t take my picture unless I get into the party,” Manning warned. “I don’t wanna be caught standing out here.”
