“If I had not been a designer, I should have been a music producer,” said designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

“If I had not been a designer, I should have been a music producer. And I would have made more money,” said Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Known for his penchant for avant-garde bands, the designer has tapped Ebony Bones – whose repertoire includes “Don’t Fart on my Heart” – to perform live at his show Tuesday. The designer’s other discovery is Doris Lazmann, the young singer of a new hip French band called Mystere Hyde. The band, dressed in JCDC, the designer’s new line for teens, was performing at the Meurice hotel Thursday night for the Meurice prize for contemporary art. Castelbajac went to the mike to announce the winner: Renaud Auguste Dormeuil, whose “Black Out” project will be presented at Art Basel in 2010.
