Jon Peters might not be casting Julia Roberts in any of his future pictures. Roberts just stepped in and bought La Tejas, one of Santa Barbara’s most majestic estates — and one that Peters was already in escrow on. “But Peter started quibbling about details,” says a source. And Julia moved in.

Are old couture gowns becoming the next hot collectibles? Christie’s sale in London Tuesday of the couture collection of the late Texas oil heiress Claudia Heard de Osborne, who died in 1987, raised $207,387 — three times what was expected. Purchasers included Isabel Goldsmith, who bought a sable coat for $23,100; the House of Givenchy, which bought some of its own gowns for its archives, and the Kyoto Museum. The Osborne collection includeda vast range of Balenciaga gowns; 80 Givenchy outfits and 14 Yves Saint Laurents.

The colorful Bay of Naples won’t be the only bright note of the G7 Summit that will be held there in July. On special request of the summit organizers, Tai and Rosita Missoni have put together 220 colorful outfits made up of pleated skirts, T-shirts and cardigans that will be sported by the hostesses taking care of the guests.
