Yves Saint Laurent is coming to the U.S. for the first time in 11 years. The reason? To celebrate his new perfume, Champagne. And he’ll do it in style. The designer will take over the Statue of Liberty for a huge party on Sept. 12. Instead of a dinner, it will be a free-flowing 3 1/2-hour extravaganza with boats shuttling guests back-and-forth from Manhattan.
Giorgio Armani’s birthday present from Phil Miller, Dawn Mello, Gene Pressman, Burt Tansky, Joel Rath and Joe Cicio was an elegant, silver antique desk lamp — an Art Deco piece designed by Ruhlman, one of Armani’s favorites.
“When I found out you were all getting together to give me a present, I didn’t believe it,” said Armani, visibly moved by their gesture. Then he paused and said, “I said to myself, they’ll never all be able to agree on anything.”
