When the temperature is in the mid-90s, it’s an especially bad time for the air-conditioning to break down. That’s what happened in the lingerie department at Barneys New York in Chelsea the other day. But it wasn’t such a bad break for the guys in the still-cooled designer men’s wear department: That’s where Cindy Crawford went to try on a few nighties.
Hillary Rodham Clinton will fly to Los Angeles to accept the Brass Ring award for her contributions to health care at Barbara Davis’s Carousel of Hope Ball on Oct. 28. The First Lady is also an honorary chair for the celeb-studded semiannual bash, as are Ronald and Nancy Reagan and Gerald and Betty Ford.
Another Hollywood theme restaurant is headed for New York. Dan Aykroyd and Isaac Tigrett’s House of Blues, which has taken off like it’s on fire in L.A., is staking out Manhattan locations for an early ’95 opening, preferably somewhere on 57th Street — like its counterparts, the Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood. The Sunset Strip House of Blues has so many private rooms, it’s become THE hangout for celebs. Juliette Lewis’s surprise 21st birthday was just held there; so was the bar mitzvah of Dustin Hoffman’s son Jacob.
