Patricia Arquette turned a corner on the red carpet at Sunday’s SAG Awards with a little help from her friends, Jacqui and Rosetta Getty — and in turn, the cousins got a boost for their upcoming dress line from a long-time pal. The Getty gals created the black chiffon goddess gown, complete with corset boning, for the actress — but kept a lid on letting anyone know about their foray into fashion until the big night. “We really wanted to see how it all fell together before we told anyone,” Jacqui Getty said Monday of the dress, which was inspired by a Louise Dahl Wolf photograph from 1941. They even asked Arquette’s stylist, Rachel Zoe, to have a backup dress, a black Azzaro, ready just in case. But once Arquette slipped into the Getty gown: “I was like, ‘This is what I’m doing,'” she said. Zoe pulled the Neil Lane and David Webb jewelry and Rodo snakeskin clutch while Getty stood by through hair and makeup to ensure it did not fall prey to the usual overdone treatment. The fledgling designers — who are no stranger to the red carpet themselves — are rapidly trying to complete the collection of classically inspired day and evening dresses in the next two weeks. Besides Zoe, friends such as Juicy Couture’s Pam Skaist-Levy and Gela Taylor are helping with sourcing and other tips. In designing the line, said Getty, “We’re very conscious of a woman’s body — not just a girl’s.” That said, the mother in Getty did surface: “There are some Gia-inspired dresses, too, of course,” she said, referring to her lithe 18-year-old daughter.
