CHARLOTTE DEB: “She was stunning,” Karl Lagerfeld said of Charlotte Casiraghi, the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, who celebrated her 18th birthday last weekend at a series of parties so airtight on press that even Casiraghi’s closest friends were asked to leave cameras at the door. “It’s a pity no one sees the dress,” the designer lamented of the flesh-toned Chanel couture confection she wore to Saturday night’s ball. Even the sketches were destroyed. “The girl wanted it totally private,” Lagerfeld said of the festivities, which included a beach party and a Sunday brunch. French celebrity magazines, exasperated over not having any pictures, reported that more than 100 police officers and bodyguards kept the paparazzi at bay. About 450 guests attended, including Lagerfeld and shoe designer Christian Louboutin.
