There’s not a decorating genius in town who could top the cinematic cityscapes and clouds swirling past A 60, the new rooftop lounge on top of 60 Thompson. Tuesday night Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch, Ed Burns and Natalia were among the crowd, who all used their elevator keys to gain entree for the official opening party. Still, Jean Marc Houmard, who opened the spot with hotelier Jason Pomeranc, is hoping to keep the admission policy casual.
“I don’t want this to be a stupid, exclusive place where you can’t get in,” Houmard said. “It should be civil.” Besides, the bar is located on what would be the 13th floor, so there’s no reason to tempt a curse from the dismissed.

“I hadn’t thought of that,” said Houmard. “We just call it the penthouse floor.”
Luck was in the air at DIFFA’s casino party sponsored by MAC on Wednesday night. Models Erin O’Connor, Audrey Marnay and hostess Maggie Rizer all posed with cards in hand, while young designers like Peter Som, Rafe Totengco, Liz Collins and Leigh Bantivoglio rolled the dice for real.
How does Carmen Kass lure the good vibrations? “You don’t have to do anything, do you?” she said. “Luck just comes.”
Well, it does if you’re Nicolas Ghesquiere, who was betting high with a bemused look on his face. “I’ve never played before,” he said, looking up from the black jack table. “I really don’t understand it.”
“Well,” the dealer said, snapping two $25 chips down near his growing stack. “You just won.”
