The Tower of London, that gloomy place where Anne Boleyn was beheaded — and where the Crown Jewels are held — rumbled to the music of Brit band the Sugar Babes on Thursday night during a party to mark the opening of London’s new Garrard store. Under the watchful eyes of the Beefeaters, 1,000 guests, including the Duke of York, Sarah Ferguson, Jade Jagger, Bianca Jagger, Rupert Everett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anna Wintour, Mario Testino and Elle Macpherson dined and danced under a tent set up in the moat surrounding the tower.
“Let’s hope Anne Boleyn likes it all, because if doesn’t, she’ll let us know it,” said the Crown Jeweler David Thomas.
“Oh, don’t believe it for a second,” said Tommy Hilfiger, who spent the day vintage shopping with his sister Ginny.
