HURRAH FOR HUSSEIN: A chic set of editors and art types tucked into new hotspot Hotel Griffou on Wednesday night for a dinner celebrating Hussein Chalayan’s collaboration with J Brand denim.

“I’m supersocial,” he said. “I just work very hard; that’s the problem. I think that designers need to work hard. They can’t just spend most of their time going out, you know.”

Someone who is less of a rarity when it comes to fashion functions is Kanye West, who arrived with girlfriend Amber Rose. Although the rapper-designer-intern-blogger appeared at no fewer than 19 shows during the fall 2009 season, he claims his days courting the flashbulbs are over. “I don’t do interviews anymore. With anyone. For the rest of my life,” said West, after posing for photographs. “I hate the press. Music and fashion.”

(The morning afterward, watch brand Casio G-Shock sent out a press release revealing an event next Wednesday where the brand “will recap its illustrious history with a special multimedia press conference, leading with an exclusive performance from Kanye.”)
