HURRAH FOR HUSSEIN: A chic set of editors and art types tucked into new hotspot Hotel Griffou on Wednesday night for a dinner celebrating Hussein Chalayan’s collaboration with J Brand denim.
And though the London-based designer is seldom seen on the New York social circuit, making this appearance something of a treat for guests including Chanel Iman and Rachel Feinstein, Chalayan insisted he does love the nightlife.

“I’m supersocial,” he said. “I just work very hard; that’s the problem. I think that designers need to work hard. They can’t just spend most of their time going out, you know.”
Someone who is less of a rarity when it comes to fashion functions is Kanye West, who arrived with girlfriend Amber Rose. Although the rapper-designer-intern-blogger appeared at no fewer than 19 shows during the fall 2009 season, he claims his days courting the flashbulbs are over. “I don’t do interviews anymore. With anyone. For the rest of my life,” said West, after posing for photographs. “I hate the press. Music and fashion.”
