Although Premiere’s 10th Annual Women in Hollywood lunch at The Four Seasons is one of Hollywood’s heaviest schmooze fests, the mood, as usual, was light. And as he presented Maggie Gyllenhaal with the Chanel Emerging Talent award, chief operating officer Arie Kopelman joked, “It’s too bad you can’t get any work, Maggie.”
“If you’re working less, you have more time to travel around the world and pick these things up,” quipped honoree Jessica Lange while accepting her cylindrical silver award. But in Renée Zellweger’s case, the actress had just 20 hours to jet in from the London set of “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.”

The night before, Christian Dior, erecting a shiny black tent full of disco balls behind the Rodeo Drive boutique, created a virtual Studio 54 for the Los Angeles launch of its La D de Dior watch. In the spirit of the evening, co-host Katie Holmes abandoned her usual classic look for a colorful bias-cut skirt. “I’m learning to embrace color,” said Holmes. And just in time.
Holmes’ co-host, Zooey Deschanel, who showed up on the arm of boyfriend Jason Schwartzman, was dressed in black. “Oh no,” Deschanel moaned. “I probably blend right in with these black walls!”
