In the midst of what had been thus far a low-key fashion week celebrity-wise, Armani shook things up on Tuesday evening by hosting the star-studded cast of Martin Scorsese’s “Shutter Island” for a cocktail reception at its Fifth Avenue outpost. Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emily Mortimer, Mark Ruffalo, Patricia Clarkson and Sir Ben Kingsley filed into the store’s third floor ristorante for the bash, which was packed with photographers and star gazers. DiCaprio, who arrived on the arm of girlfriend Bar Refaeli, caused most of the commotion.
Needless to say the actor, who found himself yelling “basta” at shutterbugs, wasn’t in the market for more public appearance opportunities. “I don’t have plans for fashion week whatsoever,” said DiCaprio in between sips of vodka soda. “I’m really focused on publicizing the film.”

Still, DiCaprio said he has sat front row at shows in the past, once as a guest of Giorgio Armani. “I met [Giorgio] when I was 18 years old. He invited me to a fashion show in Milan — the first time I’d ever been to Italy — and he has continued to be gracious to me for for many years,” DiCaprio said.
The actor also discussed someone else who has been gracious to him — Scorsese, who has directed him in three films. “I don’t know if this is something new that I’m saying, but he is someone who loves the isolation of a movie theater, ever since he was a child growing up on the Lower East Side,” said DiCaprio. “Basically, he’s a guy who loves the indoors.”
