“Be charming to everyone — you never know who they know,” said Amber Le Bon, recalling the greatest piece of advice her mother Yasmin ever gave her. Le Bon, who’s following in her model mother’s footsteps, walked the catwalk for maverick designer Mark Fast during London Fashion Week, and on Tuesday night was among a throng of big names at The Love Ball.
The charity event was hosted by Natalia Vodianova, British Harper’s Bazaar, and De Beers in aid of the Russian model’s Naked Heart Foundation.

Guests at the Roundhouse in north London included Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley, Stella McCartney, Donna Karan, Jade Jagger, Diane Von Furstenberg, Mario Testino, Donna Karan, Joely Richardson, Evgeny Lebedev, Charlotte Casiraghi, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Alice Dellal, Matthew Williamson and Carolina Herrera.
The evening culminated with an auction of love-themed art works by Jeff Koons, Tracey Emin, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Sir Peter Blake, and Marc Quinn.
“That’s an absolute bargain,” shouted Emin after the Chapman brothers’ piece went for 135,000 pounds, or $208,000.
A De Beers diamond necklace designed by Vodianova raised 180,000 pounds, or $277,000, but only after the model cheekily offered to sing for the highest bidder. In total, the night raised more than 1 million pounds, or $1.54 million, for the charity.
Later, Leona Lewis and Paloma Faith performed live, while Mary McCartney snapped portraits of guests. “Mary’s the only person I really like to take photos of me,” said her sister Stella McCartney, “because she knows me so well.”
