CHICAGO — Artist and breast-cancer activist Matuschka was guest of honor at this year’s Mount Sinai Service Club’s lunch, receiving a special award for her efforts to raise public awareness about the disease. The 40-year-old former model, whose mother died of breast cancer and who had a mastectomy herself, related the story of how last year she became the first topless and breastless New York Times Magazine cover girl. After warning the audience that “we walked differently in the Seventies,” Matuschka also took her turn on the runway in the fashion show that followed — Plaza Escada’s first in Chicago since opening its store here last year.
