NEW YORK — Jennifer Connelly wore a long-sleeve, custom-made Louis Vuitton dress in varnished leather and tweed to the premiere of “Noah” at the Ziegfeld Theater here Wednesday night. The actress accessorized the dress with leather boots, a single gold earring and a black leather Epi electric Petite-Malle bag.
The dress, a variation on a look Nicolas Ghesquière showed in Paris earlier this month, was created in the house’s Paris atelier especially for the premiere, and marks his red-carpet debut as artistic director of the brand.

“I’ve known him for about 15 years. We talked about [the dress] together. I was really excited for the new collection,” she said at the premiere. “It’s so exciting for him and it’s a wonderful partnership.”
The dress marks a further collaboration between the designer and the award-winning actress. Connelly first dialed the designer, then at the creative helm of Balenciaga, for the Academy Awards in 2002, when she took home an Oscar for “A Beautiful Mind” in a strapless, putty-colored gown that thrust Ghesquière into the hot lights of Hollywood.
Besides posing for a Balenciaga campaign in 2008, Connelly was Ghesquière’s date at The Costume Institute gala in 2005 and at Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars in 2010.
She stepped onto the red carpet Wednesday with costar Russell Crowe, who wore Giorgio Armani.
