Though husband Bart Freundlich was by her side much of the evening, the happy-couple award went to Julianne Moore and Clive Owen at Monday night’s Cinema Society and GQ screening of “Children of Men.” While the film has the two actors fighting for their lives in a dystopic future in which women are plagued by infertility, it was all smiles and hugs at the Tribeca Grand. Director Alfonso Cuarón, Josh Hartnett, Giovanni Ribisi, Josh Lucas and Julia Stiles joined in for the viewing. Looking dapper in his jacket and sweater, Owen confessed to Moore that one guest had reprimanded him on his choice of attire. “Where is he? I’ll get him!” she threatened.
The diminutive actress, herself downtown chic in a Dries Van Noten top and skinny pants, related that, despite the film’s somber atmosphere, the shoot was a lighthearted romp. “The hardest thing was keeping a straight face because of Clive,” she said. “He’s so funny. There was this one scene where he’s supposed to be reaching around my neck from behind. And he kept grabbing my boobs.”
“That’s a complete lie,” smirked Owen at the after-party. “But we did have a lot of fun.”
