Sipping Pimm’s and coffee to keep warm, a crowd of 200 gathered recently at Golden Gate Park for the 11th annual Polo in the Park events. While the blustery conditions afforded little sunshine, ladies watching the matches from Ascot Pavilion still wore their elaborate flower-studded straw hats and lace dresses with pride. The younger set spent more time outdoors, sporting everything from bowlers to berets and cowboy hats — along with hacking jackets over long skirts. After all, looking the part is half the fun.
