Ambassador postings have always been plum assignments. But the nine social butterflies who accepted the role of “Delmanette,” representing the recently revamped Delman shoe collection, may have the cushiest gig ever: wear Delmans out on the town and provide feedback on their color, cut and design. At a shopping cocktail party Tuesday afternoon at Bergdorf Goodman, ambassadors Ivanka Trump, Alexandra Lind Rose and Helen Schifter sipped lemonades and checked out the stash of candy-colored ballet flats and Marilyn Monroe-esque heels.
“Ah, the eternal question — pink or green?” pondered Schifter, as she inspected a flirty pair with an appliquéd flower.

Eleanor Lembo pulled on a pair of white mesh heels, as Shoshanna Gruss opted for the same ones in black. Designer Peter Som revealed that in his next collection, models will take to the runway wearing custom-made Delmans.
“If the clothes aren’t ready, I’ll just send them out in Delmans and nothing else,” he declared.
Delmanette Muffie Potter Aston, just back from a whirlwind tour of Russia and Estonia, even found time to shop for the cause, despite a case of party burnout. “In the summer, I like to be quiet,” she explained. “I’m the anti-socialite.”
