Kate Moss has ordered a new poison ring made from a 40-carat moonstone and a 60-carat onyx grasped by two tiger claws, the work of Evan Yurman, jeweler David Yurman’s son, to add to her collection of watches and baubles from the Yurman clan. Kate is currently being wooed by music mogul Damon Dash to be the new face for his Rocawear clothing line, a role previously played by Victoria Beckham. Negotiations are still going on and — surprise, surprise — money is the number one stumbling block. Kate wants $3 million, while Damon is thinking of a much lower six-figure deal. Would that include posing in the nude?

Jerry Hall is tapping into her telepathic abilities and she’s not even a close friend of Shirley MacLaine, at least not in this lifetime. Jerry is disillusioned with Kabbalah and has taken up in its stead Mongolian overtone chanting, which she claims makes you calm, relaxed and happy. Her teacher, a Cambridge University biologist, has said about all this: “We’re not cranks. It’s just that you can’t feel depressed when you chant.” Yes you can.

Attention skinny minnies. Liv Tyler was once told by her agent that if she wanted to work more, she’d have to go from a size 10 to a size 4, but she said no to dieting. At the time, she said, “I refuse to submit myself to those standards. To the rest of the world I am slim and I like the way I am.” That was before she got pregnant.

Now Liv cannot wait to drop all the extra weight she has put on and as soon as the baby is born this fall she has vowed to get in the best shape of her life and even go all together nude for photo shoots. Her husband, Spacehog’s Royston Langdon, is not too terribly keen on letting the world see his wife with no clothes on. Still, he said he will give her a personal trainer and a nutritionist to make sure she drops the weight in a healthy fashion. This might turn into an expensive proposition as Liv says she wants a lot of children. “I’m born under Cancer, which is supposedly a very motherly sign. I can remember being six years old and wishing I had more siblings. I’ve always known I wanted a family, so I’m definitely looking forward to having more children.” There go the nude photo shots.

More skinny: Kim Basinger’s daughter, Ireland, is already preparing for the movies. The eight-year-old, who is also the child of Alec Baldwin, is described by her mother as being “thin as a rail.” Kim says that Ireland is already starting to feel the pressure of staying thin and Kim’s not happy about it. She has said, “It is sad to see little eight-year-old girls like my own look at other girls and start holding in their stomachs.” For shame.

Cher will soon have fresher-looking and firmer skin, if that’s possible, after all the trouble she’s already gone through to perfect her appearance. She is undergoing a series of acupuncture treatments to get rid of whatever little lines are still left on her face. The technique is said to bring blood to the spots wherever they are used, thereby relaxing the muscles and eliminating the trouble spots. If it works for her, fine. But it sounds scary to me.

The socially luscious Cornelia Guest, the not-so-luscious but never mind Adrien Brody, the living-legend Bobby Short and Alexandra Wentworth, who also goes by the name of Mrs. George Stephanopoulos, are the chairmen of the Humane Society of New York’s 100th Anniversary and Fine Art Photography Auction at the Robert Miller Gallery on Oct. 14. Cornelia has nine dogs of her own of every breed, shape and size who live the good life at Templeton, her country place. Most of them have been rescued from the pound and they are all extremely friendly. Houseguests must keep their doors tightly shut at night or else one or more will crawl right in bed with them. Who else would tell you these things?

Such fabulous photographers as Slim Aarons, Bruce Weber, Patrick Demarchelier and Peter Beard will all contribute photographs to the auction and there will also be pictures of Marilyn Monroe by Milton Green and a photograph by Jeff Bridges from the set of his film, “Seabiscuit,” as well as shots taken by Hiro, Lord Snowdon, Irving Penn, Gordon Parks and Mikhail Baryshnikov up for sale. Cornelia’s designer friends are supporting the event, as well — Carolina Herrera, Mark Badgley and James Mischka, Michael Kors and Gustavo Arango. Cornelia is hosting Arango’s post-collection party at Taj tonight and she has ordered four of the glamourous “party dresses,” which will be shown on the Bryant Park runway today complete with dazzling cocktail rings from Kaufmann de Suisse.

In 1904, the Humane Society was founded to protect the city’s horses against abuse. Today, its hospital and adoption center help more than 30,000 dogs and cats every year. (To those who ask if Cornelia has horses, the answer is yes. But they don’t climb into bed with you.)

Everybody’s either writing a book or trying to be a designer. Now, Ewan McGregor and Helena Christensen have turned their talents to designing useful items for Habitat, the British home design store celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Ewan has designed a director’s chair with extra padding to keep his buddies comfortable on the set. Helena has created a flower-shaped light. As for Kristin Scott Thomas, she is still in the midst of the creative process. Oh, and Manolo Blahnik has designed a shoehorn that may make his creations easier to get into but mere mortals still have to take ballet lessons to learn to walk in them. As for some models who carry crossing one foot in front of the other to a ridiculous degree while walking down the runway (not you, dearie), some of them actually lurch. Besides, this required gait even makes them look bowlegged. Horrors!
