I’m in San Francisco at the Four Seasons, looking at the fantastic view from my balcony. I’ve been spending time in Lake Tahoe, which has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. This was my fourth year coming to Tahoe to do an event with Saks Fifth Avenue to keep the lake blue. I did a show on the grounds of a private home and was staying with the Andrews, who spearhead the project. We rode around in a boat for 45 minutes and the lake is huge!
Instead of flying out from Reno, which is the closest airport, we drove from Lake Tahoe to San Francisco. It’s such a beautiful part of the world. The landscape looks like Tuscany, with wheat blossoms and miles of peach farms. We stopped at a wonderful place for lunch and had hamburgers and some of the best white peaches I’ve ever eaten.

Then we arrived in San Francisco for a show at Saks. There isn’t another city with such a beautiful bay. It’s majestic with the immense blue sky. I have to go back to New York to work on the collection, and may have a weekend in the Dominican Republic, where we have our place. But while I’m working here, it feels like a vacation.
