Karen Neuburger is getting back into the pajama game.
Delta Galil Industries has retained Neuburger as a design consultant for its KN Karen Neuburger sleepwear brand. Neuburger will oversee the development of several new initiatives for the sleepwear brand, which is known for its signature pajamas, comfortable styling, feel-good fabrics and floral prints.
Victoria Vandagriff, president of the D2 Brands division of Delta Galil Industries Ltd., which serves as the U.S. home to the KN brand, said, “[Neuburger] built the brand from the ground up and put the concept of comfortable all-day sleepwear on the map.
“We see so much opportunity and look forward to expanding the brand with the help of Karen,” said Vandagriff.
Neuburger, who will be at the D2 Brands’ showrooms this week, said she is “thrilled” to be working with her namesake brand. She developed her eponymous line of comfy-cozy pajamas in the early Nineties, designing the first pajama prototype for herself. She hit the ground running, showcasing her pajamas in Nordstrom, and her pj’s quickly became one of Oprah Winfrey’s first Favorite Things on her TV talk show in 1996. Karen’s pajamas even sparked a “comfort movement,” with women across the country actively seeking out her soft, forgiving pajama styles in lieu of other, more restrictive clothing. The brand eventually expanded into multiple categories including home furnishings, socks, bath and body and scrap booking.
But after years of growing the brand, Neuburger said she decided to take a hiatus from the business in 2009 to focus on her family.
What is the key to Neuburger’s success in the world of sleepwear?
“Comfort,” she said. “Comfort with who we are and comfort in how we feel is important for all women. I believe I’m extremely qualified to address this need for comfort and do it in a updated fashion-meets-form way and am thrilled to be doing it again for my namesake brand.”
