Weatherproof has entered into a licensing pact with United Legwear Co. LLC to produce legwear, socks and accessories in the U.S. The premium collection for men, women and children bearing the Weatherproof, Weatherproof Vintage and 32 Degrees Weatherproof labels will be unveiled in late spring and launched at retail for fall.
Prices, colors, prints and fabrications have not been finalized, but styles and classifications will include wool-blend crews and performance and lifestyle socks.
Distribution is aimed at department stores including Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Belk, Dillard’s and Von Maur.
“Legwear is a natural extension of Weatherproof’s existing product lines….partnering with United Legwear was an easy decision,” said Eliot Peyser, chief executive officer of Weatherproof.
Isaac E. Ash, president and ceo of United Legwear Co., said Weatherproof will add value to the company’s brand portfolio.
“Weatherproof is an iconic brand that fits a profile we’ve been looking for — a strong brand that allows us to incorporate many technical properties and performance elements,” said Ash.
He added that there’s a growing demand for high-quality everyday socks that provide comfort, wick away moisture and offer temperature control.
“Our Weatherproof products will bring the kind of legwear that’s normally found in high-end specialty stores to a wider distribution,” said Ash.
A first-year wholesale sales projection was not available.
