Premium denim label Citizens of Humanity is beefing up its executive ranks.
Company founder Jerome Dahan and his partner, denim industry legend Adriano Goldschmied, have added Amy Williams to the executive team. Williams joined the company on Nov. 30, and while she has no official title, she will be working directly with Dahan and Goldschmied on sales, marketing, operations and identifying areas of growth for the Citizens and GoldSign brands.
“The field is wide open,” Williams said. “My focus right now is getting in there and learning their vision for the brands.”
Williams brings an extensive background in retail to the company. She began her career with Macy’s, where she worked at the Herald Square flagship. From there, she took a position in merchandising with the Gap, where she spent 14 years. In 2003, Williams left the Gap to run the retail division of Lucky Brand Jeans, which had 79 stores at the time.
“The brand was well established in terms of what they stood for, but it wasn’t being run as a true retail operation,” Williams said of Lucky.
She was promoted to executive vice president of Lucky and was responsible for day-to-day operations. Since 2006, she had been running a children’s apparel brand with her husband.
Williams said her first priority is taking a look at the company’s distribution network and making sure “we’re telling the clearest merchandising story in a way the customer can understand.”
Developing the online capabilities also is high on the agenda. Williams wants to make the Web site a tool for the firm’s wholesale customers and plans to explore adding an online store, as well.
Goldschmied’s GoldSign label is also likely to get some more attention. Williams said the next collection will expand beyond denim and highlight Goldschmied’s design and innovation.
“People who have seen the product have had an unbelievable reaction to it,” she said. “I think [GoldSign] has tremendous potential.”
@chanel and @pharrell dropped what’s being dubbed as the world’s most exclusive sneakers yesterday. The Adidas Originals NMD Hu, which Williams designed in collaboration with Chanel and @adidasoriginals, has a waiting list of over 120K people who pre-registered online at chanelatcolette.fr –– and only 500 pairs are on sale. The singer predicted the resale value of the shoes could reach $40K. Read the full interview on WWD.com. Link in bio. #wwdfashion (📷: Dominique Maître)

“It’s life, I’m going to face it,” @mingxi11 sighed. “I fell, but you know, I think the most important thing is that I get back up. I had the love, the help from my sister — the girl next to me Gizele [Oliveira] — she’s so nice. When I went backstage everybody was trying to comfort me like ‘Oh Ming, it’s OK.’ I’m really, really touched. I think it’s them who gave me the courage to go back on stage for the finale,” Xi told WWD of her fall at the @victoriassecret fashion show. “You know, I think audiences expect a certain performance so I have to deliver to them what they’re expecting to a certain degree. But I’m also a different actor and a different person, I have my own spin on the character,” says @noahegalvin of his takeover of the leading role in “Dear Evan Hansen” following the departure of @bensplatt, who originated the role. “I just wanted to create this fully rounded character, but I do think what excited me most was just the opportunity to give a group of people representation that I feel needs it. I like to do characters in projects that stand for something and Karolina definitely does, so that was really exciting to me,” @ginnygardner says of her new role in @hulu’s “The Runaways.” Gardner plays Karolina Dean, a queer superhero, which is a rarity for @marvel.
