Alberta Ferretti

MILAN — Alberta Ferretti will be the next fashion designer to create the official uniform collection for the staff of Alitalia, Italy’s largest airline company.“Alitalia is a well-recognized and an institutional symbol for our country,” Ferretti said. “This is why I have welcomed the opportunity to create a special collection [that] symbolizes Italy and brings the best of Italian creativity, elegance and style in the world.”The new uniforms will be introduced next summer and will replace those designed by Italian haute couturier Ettore Bilotta last year. Details about the design are still not available.“We are proud that Alberta Ferretti has accepted to design the new Alitalia uniforms: they are traditionally an icon of style and we want them to be a symbol of the Italian spirit,” said Luigi Gubitosi, one of the three special commissioners of Alitalia who are currently meeting potentials companies interested in acquiring Italy’s flag carrier. Alitalia filed for bankruptcy last May.
