The Armani Group has ended its longtime association with Amalia Zunzunegui, who owned and operated the Spanish and Portuguese franchise for Armani, and plans to operate directly in those markets.
Leandro Blasco has been named manager for Spain and Portugal. Blasco has been with Armani since April as a country manager. His previous positions include country manager for Free Soul, sales manager at Diesel Iberia and wholesale manager at Loewe SA.
Armani plans to open new offices and a showroom on Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid. The company intends to renew and expand the retail and wholesale networks in Spain and Portugal in an effort to offer the Armani brands to a wider audience through freestanding stores, as well as department and specialty stores. Presently, the retail network consists of one Giorgio Armani boutique in Madrid and Emporio Armani stores in Marbella and Lisbon.
