Calvin Klein to Show Men’s in New York

Calvin Klein Inc. said Tuesday that it will show the Fall 2009 Men?s Collection during New York Fashion Week next February.

NEW YORK — Calvin Klein Collection men’s wear is coming home.

Calvin Klein Inc. said  Tuesday that it will show the Fall 2009 Men’s Collection during New York Fashion Week next February. The show will take place on the ground floor event space at CKI’s headquarters at 205 West 39th Street, which also is home to the company’s women’s shows.

For CKI, it will mark the first full runway show for men’s wear here. Since 1998, the company has been presenting its men’s wear collections in Milan. The company also plans to hold market appointments for retailers during men’s fashion week in Milan in January, and plans to return to the Milan’s men’s wear shows in the future.

CKI, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, recently brought the Collection business back in-house — moves that encouraged the company to show its men’s wear,  which is designed by men’s creative director Italo Zucchelli, in New York. “As this is the year we have brought the Collection business back in house and will celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary, we thought this was an appropriate time to change things up a bit,” said Tom Murry, CKI’s president and chief operating officer. “We see this as a great opportunity to support our U.S. business and retail partners and acknowledge our heritage in New York City.”

Zucchelli added, “I think it is a very good signal to our U.S. retailers that we are building the business in the United States.”
