NEW YORK — Carolina Herrera will be the recipient of the Superstar award at Fashion Group International’s “Night of Stars” gala this fall.
The annual event, which will take place at Cipriani Wall Street on Oct. 25, will be themed “Dreamcatchers,” and Herrera, who is also a Fashion Group member, joins a club of past honorees that includes Donna Karan, Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar de la Renta and Nicolas Ghesquière.
“Carolina is an international icon and a brilliant businesswoman,” Fashion Group president Margaret Hayes said. “For over three decades, she’s remained true to her elegant design aesthetic in everything — from her signature collection to her bridal, accessories and fragrance collections — while presiding over a global business with a singular focus on excellence. She has an innate understanding of what smart, chic women everywhere want when it comes to style and beauty.”
In addition to Herrera, Fashion Group will also hand out several Star honors. In fashion, Haider Ackermann, Derek Lam and Gareth Pugh will receive a Star nod. Annabelle Selldorf will be given one in architecture, and MAC Cosmetics’ James Gager in beauty. The evening’s Brand Heritage Award will go to the Maramotti family for Max Mara; the Sustainability Award to Jon King for Tiffany & Co., and the Humanitarian Award to Wynton Marsalis.
As in previous years, Simon Doonan will serve as the gala’s emcee, and Ruben Toledo is creating illustrations for the program and invitation.
Etro’s show, titled “The Tree of Life,” was a celebration of the house’s 50th anniversary. “My father founded the company in 1968, which was the year of counterculture and psychedelia. It’s really a show that celebrates that and the paisley design of India and its origin,” said Veronica Etro. #wwdfashion #mfw #ss18 (📷: @delphineachard)
