Taking a breather from fashion hijinks, Marc Jacobs is reworking some of his classics at Louis Vuitton, creating an urbane mix-and-match wardrobe for pre-fall. Conservative yet quirky, the collection blends Fifties tailoring with sportswear influences. Here, his wool skirt suit, silk blouse and leather gloves and pumps.

Pre-fall is taking a sophisticated, ladylike route of late. At Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs goes for a chic-meets-quirky look, while Celine's Ivana Omazic is infusing her collection with Prussian military airs, with an emphasis on wintry coats. At their first pre-fall runway show, 6267's Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi channeled both the Romanovs and Roman starlets of the Seventies, tempering richness with sleek cuts and placing a high focus on the waist.
