With Christian Dior and Chloé opening boutiques in Beirut last week — and other labels that may follow in 2010 — the Lebanese capital is becoming a hot retail pocket for European luxury brands.

“Beirut is experiencing total transformation,” said Sidney Toledano, Christian Dior president and chief executive officer, who feted the opening of Dior’s 2,000-square-foot store on Friday at 131 Rue El-Moutrane, a designer strip in the city center. “The city is developing very quickly. It’s wonderful to see the energy.”
