NEW YORK — Ecco Domani Wines of Italy named this year’s winners of the annual Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation awards, which recognizes emerging talent.
In women’s design, the winner is Tome, the New York-based label designed by Australia natives Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin. Ian Velardi is this year’s winner in the men’s design category; Deborah Pagani takes the prize for accessories design, and Susan Woo is being honored for sustainable design.
The wine maker is giving each winner a $25,000 grant toward their New York Fashion Week presentation. The recipients are chosen by a selection committee that includes the International Fashion Syndicate’s Marylou Luther, Neiman Marcus’ Ken Downing, Macy’s Nicole Fischelis, Bloomingdale’s Josh Peskowitz, Barneys New York’s Jay Bell, fashion consultant Julie Gilhart, Vogue’s Sally Singer, Paper Magazine’s Kim Hastreiter, Fashion Calendar’s Ruth Finley and WWD’s Alex Badia.
“Through the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation, we are able to support talented fashion designers who are committed to celebrating style every day,” said Molly Davis, Ecco Domani Wines of Italy’s vice president of marketing. “Today, we are proud to raise a glass to this year’s award recipients and welcome them into the exclusive group of Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation alumni.”
Past winners of the award, which has, in total, handed out more than $1.7 million and is now in its 12th season, include Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Derek Lam, Zac Posen and Prabal Gurung.
