Ocean View

Jerome Rousseau ventures to El Salvador, where he stays at private houses with views
of the ocean and a volcanic lake.

Where to eat: El Jardín de Celeste, in Ataco. “[The restaurant] has a beautiful menu
of fresh and delicious local dishes.”

Must see: Lake Coatepeque. “I feel very inspired there and take time to sketch a few ideas.”

Summer reading: Les Yeux Sans Visage, by Jean Redon

Family Fun

Loeffler Randall’s Jessie Randall prefers to skip the glitz and glam for family downtime. The designer often heads to Miami with her husband and three children for some fun in the sun.

Where to stay: Loews is a pick for the child-friendly environment, but her kids love the Penguin Hotel’s food and “walking through the lobby, which has a glass ceiling leading to the swimming pool.”

Where to shop: Scoop and beachside gift shop Alvin’s Island. “I kind of love digging through the junk
at Alvin’s.”

Summer reading: War at the Wall Street Journal, by Sarah Ellison

Southern Charm

British resident Manolo Blahnik loves the South — in the U.S., that is. And why not? Aside from Georgia’s old-fashioned comforts, its Savannah College of Art & Design in May will honor Blahnik with the André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award.

Where to stay:
The Mansion on Forsyth Park. “A home away from home.”

Must see:
Dixieland’s old homes and landmarks. “I hope to take a tour of the South, as I’ve always loved it so.”

Sail Away

Alexandre Birman will celebrate his birthday in style with a trip to France and Monaco at the end of July, stopping at Cap Ferrat, Ile Sainte Marguerite and Saint-Tropez. Forgoing a hotel,
Birman plans to stay on a boat with his wife and friends.

Where to eat: Alain Ducasse at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco, “but the best program is to have dinner at the boat in Ile Sainte Marguerite.”

Where to shop: Martine Chambon, in Saint-Tropez.

Summer reading: Fashion magazines, “but I love the Yves Saint Laurent book.”
