LONDON — Harry Winston has named jewelry industry veteran Lord Bruce Dundas as managing director of its UK operations, WWD has learned.
Dundas, 57, who spent the past eight years at Asprey, first as retail managing director and then as ambassador for the brand, will join Harry Winston on January 12.
His role will include expanding Harry Winston’s bridal and bespoke market, and he will report to Gilles Haumont, vice president, retail. A company spokeswoman said this is the first time Harry Winston has named a UK managing director from outside the company.
“Lord Dundas will be a key addition to our management team as we continue to grow our global business,” said Thomas J. O’Neill, chief executive officer of Harry Winston, Inc. “With his extensive experience in the global luxury market, he will bring a unique perspective and expertise to our U.K. operations.”
The position was previously held by Christophe Nicaise, who had also overseen Harry Winston’s rare timepieces business in the Middle East. He has since left the company.
Earlier this year, Dundas was named chairman of the Bond Street Association, which aims to promote, improve and maintain the storied London shopping street. He will continue in that role.
