MILAN — Iceberg has tapped French designer Alexis Martial as creative director of its women’s wear line.
“Today marks an important change for us because it’s the first time in the history of our company that we have a creative director who will oversee the creativity of Iceberg women’s line,” said Gilmar Group chief executive officer Paolo Gerani. “We live in a fast-changing period, that’s why I decided to tap a new designer. Alexis is young and he looks at the future with a contemporary and chic eye.”
A graduate of Paris’ Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture, Martial joined Givenchy in 2007, where he worked for five years as knitwear designer under Riccardo Tisci, for both ready-to-wear and couture collections. Most recently, he was with Paco Rabanne.
“It’s such an honor to have been chosen by Paolo Gerani as Iceberg creative director,” Martial said. “My goal is to break with the image of Iceberg and try to create something different — fresh, colorful and playful,” Martial said.
