TOKYO — Issey Miyake said Wednesday that it has tapped Yoshiyuki Miyamae as its new women’s designer starting with the spring-summer 2012 season.
Miyamae succeeds Dai Fujiwara, who ended his five-year run at the label’s helm earlier this year. Miyamae has a long history at the company, first joining Miyake Design Studio in 2001. He has worked with Fujiwara on both the A-Poc Project as well as the house’s mainstay collection.

"It's really hard sometimes. I think I have a reputation for being really tough and aggressive and pushy but I really am a very shy person who wants to be liked, and that's the conflict constantly. There's something that takes hold - I want people to like me, I don't want to be mean - but if I see something that just cries out to be answered, I go for it," says renowned NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell.
