Le Mystère LLC is collaborating with JonValdi Couture to create customized corsets for JonValdi’s collection of cocktail dresses and evening gowns.
Jessica Pfister, New York director for Le Mystère, an upscale bra brand, said, “We have no formal contract, just an understanding that we are both very supportive of each others’ lines and when there are opportunities to promote each other, we will do so.”
Designers Jonathan Meizler and Germán Valdivia have been designing the JonValdi brand since 2002, and discontinued distribution to major stores and specialty operations in 2008 to sell their evening fare exclusively at the JonValdi atelier located at 36 West 56th Street in Manhattan.
Pfister noted a key corset for JonValdi is the Le Mystère Bridal Seduction and Evening bustier.
“JonValdi approached us about putting our efforts together to promote our brands simultaneously,” Pfister said. “They make the stunning dresses and we make the undergarments, which support and cinch you in giving you a gorgeous canvas to showcase their dresses.”
Addressing the importance of proper fitting undergarments, Valdivia said: “The most unattractive trait in a strapless gown is having that little bit of extra [skin] above your bust. Our gowns are designed to eliminate that which is a result of our cut and the Le Mystère corset.”
Meizler said, “After years of designing our own corsets both in-house and in Paris, we found the construction of the Le Mystère corset is ideal as it creates the illusion of an ideal bust-to-waist proportion. The lines are able to enhance or minimize the bust and it reduces up to 2 inches from the waistline.”
The Le Mystère brand was created in 1991 by Michael Rabinowitz, a longtime distributor in the intimates industry. Annual wholesale sales of Le Mystère undergarments were not available, but the brand generates wholesale sales in excess of $25 million, according to industry estimates.
JonValdi cocktail dresses with Le Mystère corsets retail from $2,000 to $7,000. Evening gowns are $2,800 to $12,000.

“It’s life, I’m going to face it,” @mingxi11 sighed. “I fell, but you know, I think the most important thing is that I get back up. I had the love, the help from my sister — the girl next to me Gizele [Oliveira] — she’s so nice. When I went backstage everybody was trying to comfort me like ‘Oh Ming, it’s OK.’ I’m really, really touched. I think it’s them who gave me the courage to go back on stage for the finale,” Xi told WWD of her fall at the @victoriassecret fashion show. “I just wanted to create this fully rounded character, but I do think what excited me most was just the opportunity to give a group of people representation that I feel needs it. I like to do characters in projects that stand for something and Karolina definitely does, so that was really exciting to me,” @ginnygardner says of her new role in @hulu’s “The Runaways.” Gardner plays Karolina Dean, a queer superhero, which is a rarity for @marvel.
