LONDON — Louis Vuitton is collaborating with Rei Kawakubo’s Dover Street Market in London, New York and Tokyo to open temporary boutiques to showcase its fall collection.

The spaces, which all open Friday, will spotlight what Louis Vuitton described as “an edit of directional pieces” from the collection designed by its artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière. The boutiques will also carry runway accessories including leather goods, fashion jewelry, sunglasses and shoes. Adrian Joffe, chief executive officer of Comme des Garçons, said he believes the boutiques “will have a great impact, like all the events we have, although this one is particularly exciting.”

From Sept. 1 through 15, Louis Vuitton will showcase a creative concept designed for Dover Street Market in the corner window of the London emporium, to coincide with London Fashion Week.

This latest collaboration follows Louis Vuitton creating windows for Dover Street Market’s Ginza store in Tokyo in 2012, to showcase its spring 2012 men’s collection, and the pop-up boutique for Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with artist Yayoi Kusama, which also opened at the Ginza store in 2012. That was in addition to Yayoi Kusama pop-ups that opened at the same time in several Louis Vuitton boutiques globally, alongside dedicated shops in Printemps in Paris and Selfridges in London. The label also opened a temporary boutique in Dover Street Market in New York, which ran for three months, when Kawakubo’s store launched in the city last December.
