NEW YORK — A|X Armani Exchange has tapped Patrick Robinson as creative director. Robinson’s responsibilities range from product development to providing creative direction in marketing areas. He reports directly to A|X’s chief executive officer Harlan Bratcher.
A well-known figure in fashion circles, Robinson’s most recent gig was executive vice president of design for Gap Adult and GapBody, which he held for four years until he was dismissed in 2011. Prior to that, he was artistic director at Paco Rabanne in Paris, and creative director for Perry Ellis’ women’s sportswear line. He arguably made his biggest career impact at the latter, but quit Perry Ellis in 2004 after disagreements with the management of its licensee, Public Clothing Co.
In the mid-Nineties, he also served as head designer of Anne Klein, succeeding Richard Tyler after working at the Armani Collezioni label.
A|X also named Maggie Rowton Molitor to the newly-created role of chief merchandise officer. Rowton Molitor will be spearheading such areas as merchandising, planning, production and visual merchandising. Most recently, she was senior vice president of global merchandising at Cole Haan. She previously held executive roles at Nike Inc., Davaco Inc., Ralph Lauren’s Polo Jeans Co. line, Pepe Jeans, Barneys New York and DKNY. She also reports to Bratcher.
