BOOKING AHEAD: This year Pier59 Studios wants a bigger piece of the New York Fashion Week action. From Feb. 10-17, the studio, located at the Chelsea Piers in Manhattan, is devoting the entire complex to NYFW shows, with three flexible runway spaces and two daylight studio spaces, accommodating between 250 and 500 guests, and a full-service Italian restaurant serving food, coffee and natural blended drinks. Last season, Pier59 presented 31 shows and presentations during NYFW and devoted two runways and one presentation space to show week. Asked how many shows they plan to host this year, a spokeswoman didn't give a number, but said, “We continue to book shows as the CFDA continues to confirm time slots.”Pier59, which offers column free venues, is located on the West Side Highway, which has become the connecting corridor for many of the NYFW locations scattered throughout the city, said Fern Mallis, industry consultant and executive adviser to Pier59. The 110,000-square-foot photography and multimedia studio, which has been in business 20 years, is equipped with state of the art technologies and full modular flexibility in the arrangement of spaces.
Alberta Ferretti's "Rainbow Week" sweaters are back. The designer closed her #MFW show with a few day-of-the-week sweaters, which first debuted on the catwalk last January as part of the pre-fall 2017 collection. #wwdfashion (📷: @delphineachard)
