Serpent Time

What a snake charmer. Francisco Costa, the creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, was inspired by images of reptiles and scales for resort, and he took the notion literally with looks such as this python skin coat, worn with a silk charmeuse dress.

Across the Spectrum

Forget dramatic, celebrity-packed shows. For resort, Francisco Costa, the creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, opted for an intimate showroom presentation. The only famous face that stood out in the crowd, in fact, was that of Ashley Olsen, who has been a fan of the designer for years. Costa has found his stride blending Klein's minimalism and his own sexy edge. Inspired by a book of reptiles this season, he created texture in his delicate dresses by manipulating fabrics through splitting and pleating — all in a muted color palette. Meanwhile, Tracy Reese offered a sophisticated array of ethnic and safari-inspired resort looks. Betsey Johnson created a variety of fun, colorful dresses for proms or parties. And at Diesel, Wilbert Das was feeling blue with his second line for the firm's Black Gold collection; he showed it with a mix of crisp shirting and distressed leather and denim in various shades of the hue.
