LONDON — The Valentino boutique on Sloane Street was the latest target of a smash and grab theft in the city early Thursday morning.
London’s Kensington and Chelsea Borough police said today that a gang of five suspects on three mopeds pulled up to the store just after 12.30 a.m. Thursday, and used a moped to force open the door. They then “made off with a quantity of high value handbags,” the police said. While British press reports said the suspects stole around 20,000 pounds, or $33,711, worth of handbags, a spokeswoman for the police said that figure wasn’t confirmed. A Valentino spokesperson could not be reached for comment at press time.
