LOS ANGELES — Tommy Hilfiger has signed a lease for a new West Coast flagship.

The store will be in a high-profile, 6,600-square-foot space at the corner of Robertson Boulevard and Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood that was formerly occupied by Armani Casa. A Tommy Hilfiger spokesman said details about the store’s opening date and merchandise mix would be revealed at a later date.

The West Coast flagship represents a strong domestic move for the Hilfiger brand at a time when international markets have been responsible for most of its business. In the quarter ended April 29, PVH Corp.-owned Tommy Hilfiger’s sales increased 8 percent to reach $770.4 million, about 40 percent of which were generated in North America. In North America, Tommy Hilfiger saw comparable-store sales growth of 16 percent in the period.

The company has been busy planting flagships abroad. In mid-April, Tommy Hilfiger opened its first true flagship in Asia at the intersection of Omotesando and Meiji Dori, two of Tokyo’s busiest streets. Last December, the brand put a flagship on Brompton Road in London’s Knightsbridge area. Last year, Hilfiger registered $5.6 billion in worldwide sales at retail, with distribution in more than 90 countries.
