Ermenegildo Zegna will no longer have a separate U.S. division for the design and product development of its “upper casual” sportswear collection, and is centralizing those responsibilities at its headquarters in Milan.

As a result, Kim Herring, senior vice president of sportswear, will wind down his position with the company by the end of the year, after helping to prepare the fall-winter 2010 collection. Herring has been with the company for 16 years.

As senior vice president of sportswear, Herring was heavily involved in designing product specifically for the U.S. market. The parts of the collection that are available globally have always been designed in Italy. Ermenegildo Zegna said it made the decision to consolidate the design of the collection in order to provide all markets with one unified collection.

Upper casual is the dominant part of Zegna’s sportswear offering in the U.S. The brand will still offer an assortment of sportswear just for the U.S., but comprising a smaller percentage than previously.
