Television’s “Dr. 90210’’ is applying his surgical touch to shapewear.

Robert Rey, the Beverly Hills plastic surgeon and star of the E network reality series “Dr. 90210,” has teamed with Australian lingerie designer Bruno Schiavi to create Dr. Rey’s Shapewear, a six-piece line that launched last month in 860 Sears stores and on the Home Shopping Network.

The pieces, retailing from $27.50 to $60, also made their Hollywood debut in October at the club Opera during a party hosted by Denise Richards and Carmen Electra.

Rey said he decided to start the line after reading letters from “Dr. 90210” viewers who couldn’t afford plastic surgery but wanted to improve their figures.

“It’s unfortunate that nature has a bad sense of humor,’’ he said. “Even the thinnest women have love handles. I wanted to be able to provide a solution for these girls in North Dakota and Idaho. Beverly Hills might be where I live and work, but it isn’t reality.”

After searching for a design partner, he met Schiavi through mutual friends. “When I got together with Bruno, we said, ‘Let’s think outside of the box.’”

Rey used techniques on the garments that he honed in the operating room. “I used the same suturing I do in tummy tucks when sewing these pieces,’’ he said. “And I designed the support panels the same way I would do a Brazilian butt lift.”

The pieces, such as the X Treme Plunge Dress, dip extra low to remain undetected under the most revealing clothes. “Bra and panty lines are a huge turn-off,” Rey said, along with dry skin. So the pieces are made with fabric that has been treated with aloe vera so it moisturizes while shaping.

“We have reinvented and energized the category to make it sexy and affordable for women 17 to whatever age,” Schiavi said.

Even celebrities with great figures such as Celine Dion, who wore one of Schiavi’s pieces under a catsuit for a video shoot recently, want extra shaping and a boost of confidence, he said.“No matter how slim we are, we all have something we would like to change,’’ Rey said.
