Agolde, a premium denim label founded by Citizens of Humanity’s Jerome Dahan, has ventured into its first celebrity collaboration.
The men’s and women’s brand, which targets the Millennial customer, tapped rapper A$AP Ferg to create a limited-edition capsule collection that will be sold on its e-commerce site and at The Webster starting Feb. 26.
“It felt like the right time to experiment with an outside creative brand partner,” said Amy Williams, Agolde’s chief executive offer. “We were drawn to A$AP Ferg’s like-minded vision and enthusiasm for design.”
According to Williams, A$AP Ferg has a background in fashion. His father, Darold Ferguson, owned a boutique in Harlem and A$AP Ferg, who studied fashion design at art school, launched his own line, Devoni Clothing, in 2005.
A$AP Ferg based the collection on his favorite pair of jeans and denim jacket. The line consists of six pieces including one style of jeans in four different washes and a denim jacket that comes in two colorways. The offering, which was made in Los Angeles, will retail from $250 to $450.
“Ferg really liked the fact that the products look authentically worn in, but they maintain comfort so he can wear them while performing on stage,” said Williams, who added that the line is made from Japanese selvage denim.
Williams told WWD that the Agolde line, which relaunched in 2014, “has grown dramatically in the last year.” The line is sold at retailers including Nordstrom, Nasty Gal, Shopbop and Revolve.
