Six awards will be given to vendors and retailers that have increased consumer use and awareness of accessories.
The winners this year are:
Designer of the Year: Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent.
“It” Accessory of the Year: Puma Sneakers.
Rising Star Award for Emerging Talent: Lulu Guinness.
Best Advertising Campaign: Christian Dior.
Innovator of the Year: Jane Elfers/Lord & Taylor.
Retailer of the Year: Lord & Taylor and Neiman Marcus (tied).
As reported, Burberry will receive the Hall of Fame award. There will also be some star wattage at the gala this year. Debra Messing, who plays Grace Adler on the NBC hit show “Will & Grace,” will receive an ACE Award, which goes to an individual each year as a tribute to their personal style and their use of accessories.
There are six sponsors of the event this year: Accessory Network, Fuji Film, In Style magazine, QVC, Safilo USA and WWD. The awards originated as a questionnaire that was sent to editors, asking them to suggest nominees in each of the categories, and the results were compiled into a ballot, which was then sent to the council’s members.
