The black-tie affair, slated this year for Nov. 5. at Cipriani 42nd Street, unites a cross-section of the industry for a night chock-full of networking, awards, speeches, food and dancing.
At the helm of the ACE Awards is the Accessories Council, the nonprofit organization that supports the industry. Sheila Block, executive director of the Accessories Council, conceived of the ACE awards, which stands for Accessories Council Excellence.
“The awards salute those people and companies who have performed with outstanding excellence,” Block said. “It’s important that the industry pays homage to those companies driving accessories in a variety of ways.”
The original ballots are put together by the fashion press and voting is done by members of the Accessories Council, retailers, the business and fashion press, and industry executives. There are six sponsors this year, more than there have been in past award shows. They are: Accessory Network, Fila, Fuji Film, In Style, QVC and WWD. In addition, this year some proceeds will benefit Project ALS, which funds research for Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Here, a round-up of nominees in six major categories, plus a look at the winner of this year’s Hall of Fame Award.
